Turning Air into Water

By Matthew Hofmann, Founder & Architect, Living Vehicle

I grew up in the Eastern High Sierra, camping in California’s wilderness forests and desert valleys, where freshwater scarcity wasn’t a thought experiment—it was reality. Backpacking through the mountains, I learned the hard way how infections like Giardia are a real threat and how precious freshwater is when every drop must be hauled, rationed, or chased down at some remote spigot.

Off-grid tent camping in Death Valley with the Boy Scouts made me realize the scarcity of water.  We each had a set amount of water to wash, drink, and cook with each day.  Cooking seemed like such a waste, watching water soak into the desert floor while cleaning dishes.  Showers were out of the question.

That’s why, when we set out to make the CyberTrailer PRO the most self-sufficient vehicle on the road, the first question we asked was: what if we could recycle water, even generate water—anywhere?

Pure Water From Thin Air

Every CyberTrailer PRO is equipped with an onboard system that pulls humidity straight from the atmosphere, condenses it, purifies it, and stores it in the freshwater tank. Using the power from solar panels, this system can yield 9 gallons on average of clean, drinkable water per day—automatically.  The system functions even in the desert, down to 20% relative humidity.

Estimated Output: 9.0 gal/day

Explore the water generation possibilities with the CyberTrailer Atmospheric Water Generator by Hydrosphair.

It’s entirely self-contained. You don’t need hookups. You don’t need to carry jugs. You wake up to a fresh supply of water pulled from the air around you.

Water Filtration You Can Trust

Autonomy is only half the story. When it comes to water, quality matters as much as quantity.

The water generation system features a built-in four-stage pre-filtration system, followed by UV sterilization, before routing the water to the freshwater tank. That’s already exceeding the quality of most bottled water.

But we didn’t stop there.

Every CyberTrailer also features a second, independent three-stage NASA-grade purification system on the freshwater outlet, ensuring that no matter where your water comes from (air, city water, or tank fill), it’s filtered again before reaching your faucet.

That’s a total of seven stages of filtration and sterilization. Clean. Safe. Reliable.

When Systems Work Together, You Stay Longer

When you combine atmospheric water generation with closed-loop shower recycling, something extraordinary happens: the CyberTrailer becomes its own water source.  A traditional RV shower can use up to 30 gallons of water for a 15-minute shower, and the CyberTrailer can use as little as three for a rainfall-style luxury hotel shower experience.

A single luxury shower requires only a fraction of the energy that traditional systems use. Any water you do lose, the trailer makes up for overnight. It’s not just conservation—it’s balance. And that’s how real off-grid living becomes effortless.

Whether you’re drinking it, cooking with it, or running it through the Orbital Shower, your water is treated like the vital resource it is—because it is.

Tomorrow: Hot Water, Reimagined

Of course, freedom doesn’t mean much if you’re stuck waiting for hot water—or worse, wasting it while your system catches up. That’s why tomorrow, we’ll take a closer look at how our radiant domestic water system provides nearly instant hot water with minimal waste.

Unlike conventional tankless RV water heaters, our hydronic solution is designed to accommodate luxury features like the Orbital Shower, providing high-flow comfort and consistent heat even at low flow rates.

It’s one more layer of harmony in a water system designed for the way you live.

This is Day 2 in our 20-day journey through the CyberTrailer PRO’s innovations. Stay tuned—tomorrow, we bring the heat.
